Expectations for Special Group Visits
The Georgia Tech Office of Undergraduate Admission strives to provide a welcoming environment and a lasting first impression to those interested in our educational community. A list of expectations is put in place to ensure that your group enjoys and gets the most out of their campus visit. To complete your group confirmation, please review the below expectations.
Expectations for Special Group Visits
1.
Please be on time for your scheduled campus visit. In addition to special group visits, Undergraduate Admission additionally hosts daily information sessions and campus tours for the general public in the morning and afternoon. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled visit to allow group members to unload the van/bus, walk to our space, go to the restroom, etc. There is often traffic and road construction surrounding our campus. Please build in additional time to arrive.
If your group arrives later than the confirmed and scheduled time, we will be unable to allow you into the information session. We have multiple offices and events in our building and cannot house large groups outside of our programs. If you are coming for a group information session only and arrive late, your presenter may have been dismissed and we may be unable to find a replacement.
2. If you need to cancel your visit, please call our office at 404-894-4154 and/or email
admission@gatech.edu. Groups who are “no shows,” and do not contact our office in advance will risk denial of future campus visit requests.
3.
Each organization is required to provide one chaperone for every 20 prospective students/visitors in the group.
4.
It is the responsibility of the chaperone(s) to monitor the group and make sure that individuals keep up with and respectfully listen to the counselor, and behave appropriately while on campus. An Admission Counselor or Student Admission Representative will provide a presentation on admission and campus information. Chaperones should help to maintain a pleasant atmosphere for both the group and the presenter and be with their group at all times.
5.
Please acknowledge that if the group visit request is not approved, you will not register each individual student for our daily information sessions. If you have any questions regarding this, please call our office at 404-894-4154 and/or email
admission@gatech.edu.
6.
The Admission staff reserves the right to cancel a group’s visit (before or during the visit) due to inappropriate or rude behavior (e.g. talking during the presentation and/or not listening, interrupting speakers, inappropriate language toward presenters, rowdiness, making inappropriate contact with staff or students, etc). Inappropriate group behavior will result in denial of future campus visit requests. Additionally, groups that change their headcount and bring more than the agreed-upon 50 students without prior approval will lose their ability to schedule future visits.
7.
Sessions will begin promptly at the scheduled time.
8. Please note: A self-guided tour of campus can be conducted by the group before or following the information session. We will request a tour guide; however, if no one is available, the expectation should be a self-guided tour.
