Or updated chart is user friendly and super interactive this chart gives you a clearview of what courses are required to be complete for the major that you are interested in transferring into edge Georgia Tech it is a great tool an resource for our prospective transfer students.
First, let's take a look on where you can find our course requirements by Major chart. If you visit our website at transfer.gatech.edu you will see this page and you will notice the link to the course requirements chart on the right hand side go ahead and select that link.
Once you select the course requirement chart link you'll be taken to this screen.
This screen offers you 2 different course requirement charts, depending on what type of applicant you are.
If you are a Rep or dual degree applicant you will have a different requirement chart than other traditional transfer students will be looking at the course requirements by Major chart for our traditional transfer students in the next few slides.
Once you have selected the course requirements by Major chart you will see the chart on your screen. One of the great things about this chart is that you can click it and it will open in another tab.
This will make the chart interactive and give you the ability to select your major to learn more about it, so go ahead and click on the chart.
Now that you have just the chart in front of you. Let's breakdown how to properly read the chart.
It is important to look at the note at the very Top of the chart. The note states all majors require coursework equivalent to English composition of 1101 English composition 1102. This fulfills the English proficiency requirement to detect.
And Calculus, one which at Georgia Tech is math, 1501 or math, 1551.
What this means is that regardless of what major you select at Georgia Tech you will need to have completed English 1101 and English, 1102 an calculus one.
Now let's take a look at a specific major. Let's look at bio medical engineering and what courses you need for that major.
First, you will see that In addition to English on Levano. One English, 1102 an calculus. One you will need a course equivalent to calculus 2 at Georgia Tech know that this would need to be equivalent to Georgia Tech math, 1502 or math, 1522. Please note that the forward slash means or In addition to calculus 2. You will need a course that is equivalent to Georgia Tech's chemistry 1211 or chemistry 1310.
If you are in need of additional information for your major all you will need to do is simply click on your intended major and it will take you to the course catalog for that program. Let's do this for biomedical engineering.
After selecting your major you'll be taken to the course catalog for the program. You selected this will give you an indepth overview of the program. You selected in a list of all the courses that are included in that program at Georgia Tech.
This is a great tool to use if you are looking to take more courses related to the major that you're wanting to study at Georgia Tech. Now let's go back to the course requirement chart.
Another great interactive tool on this chart is the ability to select the different courses. After selecting of course, you'll be taken to the course description page for that course. Let's look at calculus 2.
After clicking on the course you'll be taken to the course description page for all courses under that subject when we select a calculus 2 it took us to mathematics.
On this page you'll find a description for the course requirement that you selected Please note, the course. You selected maybe further down on the page. Now let's go back to the chart and look at lab science electives.
Lab science elective options include biology, chemistry, Calc based physics and earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
All apps science courses must include lecture and lab components each box represents a lecture and lab component.
Some majors require A2 Course lab science sequence.
If you look at the key at the Top right of the chart. You will see the descriptions for the square blocks if they course has 2 square blocks in them. That means there is a 2 course required sequence. An example of meeting the two course sequence is biology, one and biology 2.
Or chemistry one and chemistry too.
If there's a slash between the 2 blocks. This sequence is optional. This means that it could be a sequence or a combination of a required course. An example of meeting. The two course sequence that is optional is physics, one and chemistry one or biology, one and chemistry one.
Now that you know what courses you will need for your intended major Georgia Tech you want to know how your courses will transfer.
