Joy, I wanted to let you know so some of our campus partners have done some of their sessions. Today, slate has been rolling out updates the last 24 hours and some of the video has been lagging and kind of affecting some of the sessions which they're working on trying to see what's going on with that. One recommendation I have for you, which we've noticed worked with all of our other departments so far today is when you start, you can have your video on and introduce yourself and let everybody know how the chats going to work.
And then our recommendation is to actually mute your video, so don't click on broadcast, but there should be a button right next to like the mute microphone an if you click that. That will then make your screen turn black, which is what you see mine right now.
So that should help. And then they shouldn't have any issues hearing you or anything if they end up messaging in the chat that they can't hear you or something, it should be as simple as just clicking refresh in your Chrome and then launching back into your broadcast video and muting it again.
So you guys should be good. I also um just had and I cannot pronounce. How do you pronounce her name?
Lakshmi, I just had locked me, um, do the control slide so she can control them as well. If you want to go ahead and test out to make sure you can control them. If you click control slides it should turn green and then you should be able to click on your slides at the bottom.
Alright, so mine is green.
That's lives and I see that they are not changing.
OK, let me do something different for you. Really quick and then I'll have you redo it again.
All right and does locks we have the option to broadcast video as well.
Yeah makes sense OK and laxmi uhm it's completely up to you yay.
Are you here that feedback?
Do you hear feedback with no?
Do you hear feedback with me?
Darn it maybe it's me I hear an echo uhm.
So if you present, do you see the button that says?
So if you press mute you see the button that says if you press mute audio and let me see if I still hear the echo.
OK you press mute audio OK the echo went away alright So what I'm gonna do.
We're just gonna introduce ourselves and then were gonna mute our video.
OK, let me move to a different location in my room. Maybe that'll make it better.
Oh yeah, 'cause they're going away, OK?
Yeah, I I heard myself so I'm just at the very beginning and say hi but sure.
Alright Oh yeah 'cause they all went away is it yeah II heard myself over so uh I'll just at the very beginning both of us can say hi they'll see our focus and then I'm gonna mute my video you move your video and if you want to mute your audio just to make sure I'm just hoping I need to make a couple of immigrants in their household alright.
I hope that I have threatened sufficiently so that we don't hear.
You may hear my brother playing the guitar in the background. I don't think there's any way to make him any quieter than that.
It's not so out of this automatically muted.
It's not all of them are automatically muted.
And just to make sure we don't get any feedback when we get started after you introduce yourself then you mute and I think we should be good Unfortunately I can't mute 'cause when they wouldn't hear me.
Let's see we have OK we have 10 minutes.
Let's see what I can do alright be back in 10.
Let's see if it works OK it doesn't but I think.
You want to try it in the garage you wanna try it down here.

Should students be able to join the webinar yet? I don't see that anyone else has joined.
OK and is this 2 to 2:30 do we put a stop time or no.
Got it 'cause otherwise people can just sit there closed OK got it all right now will remember to hold my events OK.
OK sounds good I think we're 22 seconds to live makes it's gonna be fun.
She is easier when I'm in a classroom.
Less like talking to yourself.
Somehow it seems easier when I'm in a classroom full of people I don't know why it feels odd.
Yes that's it but II got some tricks up my sleeve II see how it goes I mean I can't I can't offer them eat the bags with big buzz harnessing electricity but I'm gonna do the best I can alright.

Hey guys, my name is Luxmi Raju. I'm actually a third year graduate student working towards a PhD in optics. I did graduate from electrical engineering in 2017 at Tech. A man I've been giving tours for awhile. So if you guys have questions, please pop him in the chat and I'll answer them while Doctor Harris gives her presentation. I've had a number of experiences, internships and what not and if you want to ask about any of that feel free to. I'm just here to answer any questions you might have.
Alright I'm gonna turn off video.
Missy muting the video and last me if you could mute as well. OK, so I just muted the video so that make sure we have a lot of bandwidth. I'm just going to say hi, I'm so glad you all are here.

Questions as I disseminate this information, and then I'll move on to the next slide. Alright, you should see the slides, but not me. I did mute my video because it takes up bandwidth, but you should see the slides OK. We have about 2600 students in electrical and computer engineering at Georgia Tech, and that breakdown is roughly 55% undergrads in about 45% grad students. And you can if you chose to do your Masters.
And your PhD at Georgia Tech. In addition to your undergraduate degree, we have about 20% female in our Department, and students from 45 states throughout the US and 40 Six Nations at last count. And these are the most recent numbers. These are the 2021 numbers with number six and copy number six in the Ian #8 in engineering worldwide. According to the US World News report. So our Department is actually huge. We are.
The largest producer of electrical and computer engineering graduates in our peer group in the US. So if you look at the top ten schools, caltech, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, we produce the most electrical and computer engineering students in the country now. This slide says everything that we want. All of our students to do while you're here, I'm going to talk about each opertunity, and then I'm going to pause.
And give you a moment to ask questions. All right. So the first thing that we want you out to get is a bachelors in either electrical engineering or your bachelors. In Computer Engineering. We do expect you to graduate. We accept students who we think will be successful and then we do everything that we can to make sure that you complete the program. We're not expecting you and then trying to weed you out as we go. That's not the way we work. Our students. We have a 1999%.
I'm great success rate meaning less than one percent of our students don't graduate because of academic poor academics. We do have students who will change majors, which is fine.
Anthony L.
02:08:56 PM
what would you say is the most defining difference between CompE and EE?
Lakshmi Raju
02:09:11 PM
CompE is more software based, and EE is more hardware based.
So you cannot double major within the Department though, so you would get either EE or copy. There's a lot of overlap between the degrees. We are also moving to a thread design so that you can choose threads in either EE or copy and so in that way you can fulfill the requirements that you want, but your degree is going to say one of the other. Now In addition to your bachelors, we want our students to get work experience, research experience, global experience and then we want you to get.
Entrepreneurial experience as well. All right now I see a question. Let me repeat. The question says what would you say is the most defining difference between copy at EE and locks? Muse Answer his copy is more software based. E is more hardware based, this is.
This is true definitely at. In addition to that, he is a lot broader, so let me show you. I'm going to show you our concentrations and soon to be threats.
So if you look at the, if you look at the copy concentrations you see cloud computing, mobile computing, cyber security, Internet of Things, multimedia streaming in robotics. Now you'll see some of those overlapping and E concentrations like multimedia and streaming is in both. But then he also has electronics, enerji wireless and network systems micro and nanotechnology robotics is on both sides, so you see, there's definitely overlap in the fields.
Mihir K.
02:10:13 PM
how many/what percentage of students change majors between EE and CompE?
Anthony L.
02:10:29 PM
ok thanks!
Lakshmi Raju
02:10:36 PM
Up to 60 credit hours, you can change majors across the whole University, I'm not sure we track those numbers.
If you were in the comp E concentration of robotics, you will be studying more. So the software side and how it interacts with the system versus how electricity is flowing through the system. OK, so even though it's two sides of both right and then he is of course a lot broader. Alright now I see how many or what percentage of students change their majors between E and copy. That's another question Lakshmi has set up to 60 credit hours. You can change your majors across the whole University, right? So we don't.
Davis C.
02:10:55 PM
Are there interdisciplinary programs between EE/CmpE?
Track we only track people who switch outside the major and it is a pretty small percentage. We don't track within the major because the overlap is so great.
Alright, Ann Davis has a question. Are there interdisciplinary programs between EE and copy? Yes, you're so the interdisciplinary programs. Robotics is highly. Just interdisciplinary is also a minor. You have options and minor in robotics, in which case you're also required to take classes outside of ECE and then we have an interdisciplinary requirement. You have to give five credit hours outside of you see within the College of engineering. We also have our interdisciplinary certificates.
Davis C.
02:11:32 PM
Thank you!
Are miners and we do as much as we can to build those into the curriculum as well, so there's a lot of overlap. We also have research interdisciplinary options as well.
Mihir K.
02:11:42 PM
thanks!
All right, now, thinking about our work experience, we do want our students to get either a Co op or an internship for work experience and the difference. The primary difference between the two is going to be the Coop is 3 full-time alternating semesters at the same company, 3 full-time alternating semesters at the same company.
Where is AT and since there full-time alternating semesters, you're in school one semester. Say you're in school in the fall, you work full time in the spring you're in school. In the summer, work full time in the fall, and so forth. Versus the internship is most often done during the summer, and you can intern at as many different companies as you want. So the Co op, the benefit their major advantage of the Coop, is the depth of experience because you're at the same company over the span of a year. Broken up is alternating semesters.
The benefit of the internship is the breath of experience because you get to insert in multiple companies, the Summer is going to be shorter. The intern ships are 10 to 12 weeks versus the Coop is longer. It's a full 16 weeks, sometimes longer in the semester, all right now. I want to pause and ask what are your questions about the intern ships that our students do versus the co-ops that our students do and the work experience that our students have?
I'm going to just take a minute and give you time of monitoring the chat to see what your questions are.
Eric S.

Lakshmi Raju
02:13:49 PM
Just to give you a snapshot of my own experiences, I've interned at Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and MIT Lincoln Labs. I also worked at GTRI - the Georgia Tech Research Institute.
Questions about internships versus co-ops. The companies that pay OK are most of the internships in Coop's located in Atlanta. Actually know you. Could you get internal Co-op anywhere in the world, so our students are going to intern and Co op all over? What percentage of students do internships versus co-ops? About 20% of our students do co-ops, the other 80% do internships. Although I must point out students who Co op tend to have a higher GPA. Statistically speaking, they have a higher GPA than the students who.

02:14:19 PM
what is the process behind getting/applying for a co-op?
In terms of being an international student, will it affect your opportunities for internships in co-ops? That's completely dependent on the company. If the company is willing to hire international students from a Georgia Tech standpoint, it does not affect your opportunities at all. So it's very company specific as to whether or not they're going to work with international students. Lakshmi has typed in just to give you a snapshot of her own experience. She interned at Lockheed Martin Northrop gruman at MIT Lincoln labs, and then she worked at the Georgia Tech Research Institute as well.
Lakshmi Raju
02:14:29 PM
Companies that students intern at range from Intel, Microsoft and Google to lesser thought of companies like John Deer, International Paper and all the car companies like GM.
Alright, are the internships and Co op Spade? Yes they are in their paid at a fair market rate. Do students typically get hired by the company that they Co op in? Yes, that is why the companies are hiring co-ops. In interns, it's a try. Before you buy type, they want to now, I will say co-ops more often lead to job opportunities that internships.
Most of the time the Coop's going to lead to a job opportunity, the intern ships the internship. Depends on when you're doing it. Those internships right before you graduate most often lead to job opportunities, but the intern ships earlier on. When you're maybe second Samuel, sophomores, or even a summer freshman. Those are not as likely because you're a lot younger in the school process, right? If you go out, will it take longer to graduate? It can take longer. You don't have to, but you would have to take more hours to compensate. Typically the time to graduate for a Co op is 5 years instead of four.
And then what is the process behind getting or applying for a Co op?
Darrell G.
02:15:25 PM
Do internships have to be organized through GT? I have an internship opportunity through a scholarship; would I be able to still use that?
Lakshmi Raju
02:15:46 PM
Applying for co-ops is like any job, you can apply online, meet recruiters at career fairs, we have all major career fairs twice a year, ECE career fairs twice a year, and CS career fairs twice a year, and a number of other opportunities on campus.
You do it the same as any other job search. You're going to go to our career fairs are going to go online to Georgia text buzz. We have a career buzz site and you'll submit your resume. You'll interview, you'll train and you'll apply annual. Get it alright? Laxmi pointed out that students intern from many different companies. Intel, Microsoft, Google, John Deere International Paper GM, that so multiple different industries and I see a question. Do internships have to be organized? The Georgia Tech. No they do.
Amanda H.
02:15:58 PM
How many students succeed in getting paid internships in their freshmen/sophomore years? Also is it possible to turn an internship into a co-op?
Mridhula M.
02:16:22 PM
Which year do co-op/intership start typically
Not if you have an internship through your scholarship. Yes, you can still do that. We do. Georgia Tech does not have to. It doesn't have to be a company that's recruiting at tag. You get your internship. However, if it comes with your scholarship, that's fine. How many students succeed in getting paid internships there first or sophomore years? And is it also possible to turn it internship into a Co op? Now? Typically co-ops are actually easier to get your your first and second years co-ops. Because students want costs earlier because they keep you in their company pipeline.
Arjun S.
02:16:51 PM
Can you earn college credit through internships and/or co-ops?
You longer, so they're willing to take you earlier. The internships are easier to get later, as as a junior for example, but it turning an internship into a Co op. It really depends on the company. Most companies defined them very differently and so they're not going to turn 1 into the other. But again, that depends on the specific opportunity. Most companies are hiring a Co op because they have a project that they need a long-term worker on their hiring interns because they have a short-term need, so a big difference.
Lakshmi Raju
02:16:55 PM
All internships are paid, with the exception of volunteer work. Internships and co-ops can start as early as your second semester freshman year. Companies generally hire co-ops earlier than interns.
Mridhula M.
02:17:20 PM
Can you do co-op all 4 yrs?
OK, what which year do Co op typically start? Students will far co-ops seconds either second semester freshman year moving forward. So co-ops typically start early. Intern ships are typically starting summer after sophomore year, summer after junior year. Alright, can you earn college credit through your internships or Co op so you are not getting college credit as in towards graduation, but your internship or coop can appear on your transcript? the Co-op, definitely the internship. If you register it.
And can you do a Co-op offer years? Yes you can Co op as often as the company will hire Yuan as often as you want. Yes, all right now I'm going to tell you about our research experience. We want our undergrads to get research experience because it makes you more marketable either in grad school but also in the companies that you work in. And the reason is, every single technology that exist every new thing that exists right now was in a University research lab 10 years ago.
And so we want you all to be part of what the next 10 years is going to look like, and the way for us to get you involved in that is through research. And so we often I like to dispel the myth that research is only for students who are going to grad school and also the fund myth that we only want you to do research because we need minions in our labs.
That's really not the case, even though we do need minions for our labs. Still is a great experience for you, especially as an undergraduate. Now I am going to show you one slide here.
It's our research funding sources. You see that we have over 50,000,000 in research awards, 500 active projects. At this point, small spinoff companies is probably grown grown a lot, and the biggest takeaway from this graph. If you want to know where a companies or a school where is school is focused, you look at where their money is coming from and you'll see that over a third of our funding sources come from industry these industry projects.
Are amazing for undergraduate students because very practical, very hands on and it tells you that over a third of our focus is on what's going to be in the market in the next 5 to 10 years. And so the ways that we encourage our students an helping facilitate these research opportunities is one you can just take a resource for class credit.
And so you can get into in ECE. You can get up to six credit hours of research and you have the option of taking research for one credit or for two credits. You choose. The work is the same, but we want to give you that option if you want to do 6 semesters of research, you could do six semesters at one credit, and if you wanted to do only three semesters, you could do three semesters at 2 credits, or any combination in between. And you don't have to do all six quite as we just give you that amount. You can also do an internship in a research lab, or you can do.
A Co op in a research lab so you can get research for pain and then we have part time job opportunities within the department for research. So those three you can do class credit based research. You can do work based research as an internship or Co op. We have partnerships with multiple universities for the Caldari use. Research, education for undergraduates. So if you wanted to do and are you at Stanford, we could help you. Of course we can't give you the opportunity you have to go after it.
Arjun S.
02:20:55 PM
What % of students typically do internships/co-ops at companies vs. in research labs?
Well, we're going to facilitate it. If you wanted to do and are you at MIT? If you wanted to do it? Are you a caltech? If you want to spend your summer doing research in the lab, you could do that. And students who do research based co-ops most often go to the Georgia Tech Research Institute because it's easy, but it's not required. You can do any any research based Co op that you want. I have students doing research based closet Johns Hopkins 'cause they're interested in electrical engineering for medical devices, so it's a good fit. Now I want to ask.
Hum OK, I see the question arguing thanks. What percent of students typically do internships and Co op set companies versus in labs? Our students do both. They do bulk, so all of our students are going to do an internship or coop and 80% of our students are also going to get some type of research experience. Some type of research experience. It might only be one semester and then a smaller percentage is going to do multiple semesters. These experiences you do not have to choose. We want you to do both.
OK, so the expectation is you would either get your work experience during the summer as internship or full-time alternating semesters co-ops when you're in school. We are expecting you to do research for class credit, or we're expecting you to do a part time job in research when you're taking classes.
Mihir K.
02:21:55 PM
how easy is it to network/form relationships with professors to get research (or job, rec letter, etc.) opportunities?
Mridhula M.
02:22:04 PM
Can research start in freshman year
Other questions, do you all have? These are excellent questions. Keep em coming. What other questions do you have? Either about work experience or about research? Alright, how easy is it to network and form relationships with professors to get research opportunities?
If you meet a professor and you like the class that they teach, you'll probably like the research that they do and can you start researching your freshman year? Yes, you can start second semester freshman year or summer after your first year. OK, and now back to the question about how easy it is for the job. Opportunities and letters of rec. I write letters of rec for my students on a regular basis.
Shirley S.
02:22:35 PM
Do these co-ops, internships, research specifics apply to only the Department of ECE o rare they applicable for the whole student body?
Josh W.
02:22:39 PM
Do you pay full tuition during semesters when you are working at co-ops since you are not taking any classes?
Lakshmi Raju
02:22:41 PM
It is pretty easy to network with professors, it is as easy as regularly going to office hours.
So for any student who knows me is as easy as saying hey doctor Harris, I need a letter recommendation. It really is. And if you like the research that our professor does, you can volunteer in the lab and you can ask if they have if they have openings for paid research position. So I would say it is as easy as getting any other opportunity. The professor is we want students to work in our lab, so it's not hard. Alright, I see dude co-ops internships and research specifics applied to only ECE or.
Amanda H.
02:23:08 PM
In what ways do you provide assistance in getting and applying for internships, coops, and research? (for example job fairs?)
Lakshmi Raju
02:23:11 PM
Research can start as early as you reach out to any group/program that you are interested in - so as early as 2nd semester freshman year.
Are they applicable to the whole student body? OK, you can do research. And of course internships, co-ops, work experience, research. You can do research across the Institute. You do not have to, just do your research in electrical and computer engineering when it comes to work, though. Keep in mind companies are hiring students in a specific major for a specific reason. So a company is not recruiting at electrical engineer to do a mechanical engineering job. They're not recruiting a computer.
Engineer to do a mass communications literature and media job. You see what I'm saying? So their recruiting electrical engineers to do electrical engineering work alright.
Mihir K.
02:23:48 PM
are computer engineering majors candidates for software engineering jobs?
And Laxmi does point out that it's easy to network with professors 'cause you can just go to our office hours right now. See another question, do you pay full tuition during the semesters when your Co. Oping? No, you do not pay any tuition when you are Co oping, the Co-op appears on your transcript as a 12 credit hour audit class and since its audit those hours, they don't count against any financial aid that you have. If you have financial aid is based on hours, you're not paying any tuition, but it also shows that you're still a full time student because we have someone who can't take gaps.

02:24:15 PM
We have resume workshops, and there are professional communications courses specifically for the ECE department where you not only learn technical communication, but also technical/professional etiquette and how to interview etc.

What abt doing research in non-core topics - like psychology or international culture
In in their school or in their education? Alright, let's see. In what ways do you provide assistance in getting and applying for and getting internships? Co op. Some research for research. All you have to do is pick the class. Alright, so that's very simple. You we have a full list of teams on the website is V is in vertical. I is an integrated Piers in projects VIP dot GA is in Georgia Tech TEC h.edu you can see a full list of research teams, you just you just.
Lakshmi Raju
02:24:54 PM
You can do research in any field you are interested in pursuing.
Join the class for the intern ships in co-ops in the way that we assist is we have career fairs twice a year at the beginning of the fall semester and at the beginning of the spring semester. We also bring companies to our lobby throughout the year and their recruiting and then companies will sponsor professional development meetings through our IEEE branch or through our women in electrical and Computer Engineering branch or other professional societies throughout the year. So we will. I would say either weekly or biweekly. A company is there.
Lakshmi Raju
02:25:21 PM
Computer Engineering students can absolutely get software engineering jobs - especially if you have done internships/taken related courses.
Recruiting and hiring. And so we're going to give you the opportunities throughout the semester. Alright? I also see our computer engineering majors candidates for software engineering jobs. Yes Yes yes yes. Our copies are definite candidates for software engineering jobs as copies. You can actually take a full CS thread. You can get multiple software, so multiple CSS classes towards your copy degree. Laxmi points out that we have resume workshops. Also there are professional communications Department.
And there specifically for ECE, they'll help you with interviewing. Also, we have a.
Arjun S.
02:26:13 PM
When do you have to decide between majoring in EE or CompE?
A full professional communications class that you'll take and our our professional communications. That part is going to help you with all things for your interview period. OK, what about doing research in non core topics like psychology or international culture you have that option if you go to that Department and find a professor who's doing that research and they want you now, there is going to need to be a connection to electrical and computer engineering because otherwise the professor is going to ask.
Shreya C.
02:26:27 PM
Is 'threading' like doing a minor?
Mridhula M.
02:26:53 PM
Is learning community linked to research interest?
Why would I take a copy major for international culture? Why would I take any major for psychology? Whatever you can show the link or the bridge. Definitely you can do research in any field. As Laxmi points out, any field that you're interested in Alright, I see when do you have to decide between majoring in EE and copy? And is threading like doing a minor OK? The first thing is no, the threads are not the same as a minor. The threads are the way that you will focus your education or the concentrations. That's how you choose your electives, so it's not the same as a minor.
A minor is on your transcript, and it's outside of these to eat now. When do you have to decide between majoring in EE and copy the practically speaking? You can decide when you get ready to graduate because there's so much overlap when you apply to graduate, make sure you put the degree that you want on your graduation application, but I would say most students, no which one they want by 60 credit hours or second semester sophomore year, because that's when you start taking classes that are.
Josh W.
02:27:54 PM
If CompE is mostly software-based, what is the difference between CompE and CompSci?
EBay, specifically eBay source specific copy base and I'll tell you from my own experience I couldn't choose between EE and copy. I had a great interest in both coming in, but then I took copy based classes and I took the base classes and help me choose that I really wanted to do Y. So by second semester sophomore year you'll know it. But there's only three classes that differ between the two degrees, so it's again those three classes you could take those three classes your last semester. It's very practically speaking.
Lakshmi Raju
02:28:07 PM
You are always attached to a major, as soon as you submit your application - but you can switch with no questions asked up to 60 credit hours (end of sophomore year), after that it is still easy to change, just have to talk to the academic advisors.
You can choose very late in the in your time here. OK, alright is a learning Community. Leagues for research interest, so by the learning communities I assume you mean the LLC is the living learning communities I happen to be the faculty director of the global leadership living and learning community. I can tell you, know they're not based on research interests, but they're based on life interest. So global leadership is for students who want global careers. There's the grand challenges.

How does AP credits help? Does it give cost benefits and what do u suggest
Lakshmi Raju
02:28:44 PM
CompE gives you more of a basic hardware understanding that you can ground the rest of the CS topics you learn. CS is purely software based.
Bohan Z.
02:28:49 PM
As a CompE major, would it be difficult to register for CS courses in the CS faculty?
For students who are interested in tackling the grand challenges that are proposed by the National Academy of Engineers, there's an honors program living and learning community that's more based on that. The cohort model. In taking specific classes together, there's an impact living and learning community that focuses on diversity, but again, these are life interests. They're not going to be based on research interest. OK, now another question is, does AP credit helping? And by the way, you all can ask questions about Georges Heck.
The whole not necessarily about he specifically. Yes, your AP credits do help, and we have an EPI transfer equivalency table. And to find that I always Google it. Georgia Tech AP transfer equivalency table.
Eric S.
02:29:17 PM
I have hear that CompE students sometimes have a hard time getting into software classes due to CompSci majors getting priority. Is there a way around this restriction?
Nico M.
02:29:22 PM
Will AP exams from this year be accepted?
Lakshmi Raju
02:29:33 PM
As a CompE major, you can take all of your electives in the CS department. It can sometimes be tricky to register for specific classes/timeslots, but if you plan your degree in advance, it is all possible.
That will tell you which which AP classes we take and what you get credit for, and that the score that you have to make either four or five and does it give you cost benefits? Yes, because you don't have to take those classes. You can move on further in your curriculum alright. As a copy major, would it be difficult to register for CS courses OK for CS courses? Right now we are working to revamp and to remember that process, but I can tell you right now.

02:30:05 PM
You would have to ask the admissions department about this years AP exams.
If you are not a CS major, you have to wait until all of the CS majors register for classes, which is what we call is phase one registration and then in phase two they open the classes up to other majors. If you are a CS minor then you get a permit to register for a CSS class every single semester after you declare the minor, so that makes it easier and Eric is, I hear that Compiz students sometimes have a hard time getting into the software classes because the CS majors get priority, they do, but.
Eric S.
02:30:38 PM
Does a CS minor make you eligible to register for CS courses during Phase 1?
The work around for that is of course a minor in CS, because then you get a class. You get apartments, register for class every semester. But I will say from the file moving forward, we're revamping our curriculum to try to make it easier for our students to who are interested in the CSS thread to get into CS courses, will AP exams from this year be accepted? Yes, yes we are accepting AP exams from this year. You pass the exam, we accepting your scores.
Arjun S.
02:30:49 PM
By when do you have to declare a minor (ex: in CS)?
All right up there do you have doesn't see S miner make you eligible to register for sea of courses during phase one? No, it doesn't make you eligible to register in phase one, but it gives you the permit for the course you're going to get into the course because you have a permit for the course. Alright, so that's what it. That's what it means, all right? And when do you have to declare a minor in CS? That's another question. When do you have to declare the minor? You cannot declare the minor until after you have taken CS 1331 and you have to get an A or B.
Mridhula M.
02:31:10 PM
How does honors program help
Rohit M.
02:31:16 PM
Can you double major with a program from a different department?
Which means you can't declare the minor until second semester freshman year at the earliest, because you have to take that class. So if you took CS 1331 your first semester, you get an A or B that you can apply for the minor second semester. Can you double major with a program from a different Department? Yes, you can double major in any Department except for computer science, and that's because the CS Department does not allow double majors any other any other Department yet. So if you wanted to double major in EE and copy.
David F.
02:32:03 PM
Is there overlap between CS and CmpE classes?
So I'm sorry not even copy, but let's say Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, yes, or Computer Engineering Aerospace Engineering. Yes, even if you wanted to double major in math and computer engineering, yes, any double major outside the Department. Now another question is, does the honest program help the honors program? The classes are exactly the same as any other class, so there's an honors section of the course, but the course is the exact same content. It just so happens that you are in the honors program section, which means.
Yash D.
02:32:16 PM
Can you double major in two different schools?
Bohan Z.
02:32:17 PM
Would you recommend transferring AP credits for ECE (how does an AP course compare to a corresponding Georgia Tech course?)? Can you transfer AP credits from an AP exam without taking the AP course?
It's more of a cohort model because everyone in your class is in the honest program and you all live together. So in that way it helps to form a an instant study group in instant connections in your courses. But I will also say that all of the living and learning communities offer that value. It's just a question of if you would prefer to do it through the honors program so that so it's definitely a choice. It doesn't hurt by any means, but if you want that type of experience from the honors program is a good option.
Lakshmi Raju

can I transfer credit from a summer pre college program at another college?
Alright, would you recommend transferring AP credits for ECE? Alright isn't. How do AP courses compared to corresponding GT forces? Can you transfer AP credits without taking the AP course? We only look at your scores. We don't look at the course, so that's the first thing. If you have the score for five that's needed for the transfer class, you get credit now. As far as the first question would I recommend taking the AP credits versus taking AP course. Take the credit. Yes, take the credit. Exclamation point.
Rohit M.
02:33:19 PM
Would double majoring take more than 4 years to graduate?
Mridhula M.
02:33:28 PM
Will I have to be selected by GT for honors program or is it free for students to choose it?
The way that we work the way that we work, we are at Georgia Tech is a data driven Institute. We compare the scores of the students who got AP credits and how they do in following courses to students who took the Georgia Tech course and how they do in following courses. If there is a statistically significant difference in performance, then we don't accept the credit. If there is no statistically significant difference in performance, we do accept the credit. So that way you know you're going to do you have the chances of doing as well as a student who took the Georgia Tech course.
Arjun S.
02:33:45 PM
Do you accept IB credits as well?

02:34:02 PM
Do you get credits from A levels?
Let's see can you transfer credits from programs taken at another college? Again, look at our transfer equivalency table because not only do we have AP credits there, but we have credits that you can take from other colleges as well with double majoring. Take more than four years to graduate. Yes, no measuring will take five years. It is an Institute requirement that if you double major, you have to take five years. Well, I have to be selected by the GT honest program. Or is it free for students choose? OK so for the the honors, the weight of the living and learning.
Mihir K.
02:34:26 PM
how much attention to professors pay to teaching undergraduates as opposed to doing research/working with graduate students? is there an emphasis on small classroom settings?
Learning communities work. This includes artist program, global leadership, impact, grand challenges. All of the living learning communities. You apply for an LLC and you rank your top choices if the honest program is your top choice, you say that and then we go in and pick the students based on our availability. So you have to choose the honest program in the honors program has to choose you. Most students are going to get their top choices of few students are going to get their second choice, but I can tell you is for global leadership all of.
All of our students got their top choice. OK, we do except IB credits. So now the question. Do you accept IB credits? Yes, we do.
Well, how much attention to professors? Let's see how much attention to professors paid teaching undergraduates as, oh alright, so how much attention do our professors pay to teaching undergraduates is? And how much attention to our undergrads get versus the research, and is there an emphasis on the small? An emphasis on a small class setting? OK, you'll notice that we have 2600 students, and roughly 1400 of those or undergrads we have over 120 faculty members, so the students have faculty ratio is less than 14 to one.
OK, our professors like me. For example, my undergraduate classes, my small classes up to 40 students. I actually know every students days. Not only do I know their names, but I know what my students are interested in. I know when my students come to Class, I know when they skip classes, but I know, oh, this student is interested in a global internship. So let me send this opportunity that way. This student wants to start a company, so let me send this student that way so we know we know our students. We do. There's a lot of emphasis on undergraduate education.
Now, yes, there's an emphasis on research as well, but Georgia Tech has a very nice mix of research faculty in teaching faculty. I'm teaching faculty, so I get to focus on the undergraduate experience as opposed to a person who has to run a lab and focus on the graduate experience. So you're going to get attention, and your first and 2nd year classes are going to be very large scale because you're taking Institute core requirements. Meaning everybody in Georgia Tech has to take them, but your major specific classes are going to have.
Josh W.
02:36:39 PM
Do you have to take calculus-based physics at Georgia Tech if you have the AP credit for algebra-based physics? For example, algebra-based is listed as PHYS 2XXX and calculus-based has a specific course.
In the beginning, maybe 30 students, and then by the time you get to your electives, 10 to 20 students tops, so it'll be smaller than a lot of high school classes are bigger than that. Alright, how OK do you have to take a calculus based physics at Georgia Tech? Yes, AP credit. No, you don't get credit for the algebra based Physics, No.
Rohit M.
02:36:55 PM
Do you get credit for A levels?
Lakshmi Raju
02:37:00 PM
I believe you can.
So double check their requirements, but I'm sure that you have you only get AP credit for the calculus based physics. All right now. The next thing that I want to talk to you all about is our global experience in our monitoring time. We are at 2:37 so we have time hold on just a second.

does GA tech prioritize preparing students for industry or for grad school/PhD/academia?
All right for our global experiences, we want all of our students A to get global experience and we understand for many soon as your international. So the global experience is attending Georgia Tech for our US based students, we want to make sure that you're also getting experiences outside of the US. Ann, I know I say that in a time when nobody can leave whole ha ha. That's the irony. Well, once life gets back to normal, we want our students to study abroad. We want you to intern abroad. We want you to serve abroad.
Lakshmi Raju
02:38:12 PM
If you have AP credit, take it. You can learn as you go.
We want you to have an international experience and we do that in multiple ways, and I do see a couple of more questions in the chat window that I'm going to go back to you in just a minute, OK?
For the global experience, you can do as little as a long weekend abroad through a service project. So for example, some students will choose to volunteer by helping clean up after a natural disaster, and they'll just do a Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Come back on Monday type experience. You can do a class this studies abroad for a full week during spring break, so we have an undergraduate class about clean cities that travels to single board spring break. I take students abroad for short learning of short Co curricular activities as well. I've taken students to Kenya.
Lakshmi Raju
02:38:56 PM
It depends on what experiences you go after, if you are interested in grad school, we have many research opportuntiies, if you are interested in industry, you can do internships/co-ops.

02:39:02 PM
How do we go about transferring AP credits/ Dual Enrollment credits? Do we have to send in transcripts, etc.?
To Guatemala, to Brazil to South Africa an I'm planning a trip now to Tanzania to take students there, but then you convince spend a full semester abroad. If you're doing a Georgia Tech program is in Georgia Tech abroad, the classes are going to be in English. We, Georgia Tech faculty or teaching abroad. Just like you're setting abroad. So it's a Georgia Tech class which makes it seamless. The credit is going to automatically count and then you don't have any classes on Fridays. It's the best experience ever.
Lakshmi Raju
02:39:44 PM
You may have to send AP Scores/Transcripts. http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/academics/undergraduate/credit-tests-scores/advanced-placement-exams/
Georgia Tech Lorraine is the easiest for our students, but there are so many programs, an hour office of international education has a full study abroad fair during the fall semester, so you can attend back to see what the opportunities are and then if you study abroad you pay in state tuition which is substantially cheaper than out-of-state tuition because everybody is taking the out-of-state that semester. You pay a small programming fee and if you want to do a smaller program, is good to study abroad.
Early if you go to Georgia Tech Lorraine, which is our full Georgia Tech campus of right, then you can study abroad later right now. Let me go back to the chat window I see.
Rohit M.
02:40:20 PM
If an A level course like Further Math isn't listed on the website, can you still get credits for it?
How do you go about transferring AP credits and dual enrollment credits and do you have to send in transcripts for AP credits, you will send your test scores directly to Georgia Tech. Our admissions office in our admissions office is going to give you credit if it's dual enrollment credits. Yes, you are going to send the transcript to our missions office in, but the course is if the classes that you're taking automatically there on our dual enrollment or our transfer equivalency table, you'll automatically get credit. If in a level course like.
Lakshmi Raju
02:40:44 PM
You would have to talk to the Math Department.
Some mad isn't listed on the website. Can you say we credit for it? So if you want credit for a course that is not listed in the transfer equivalency table, what you have to do is submit that course along with the syllabus for that course to our admissions. Sorry to our registrar, the Registrar will give that course to the Department, so if it's a math course for example, they give it to someone in the math Department and then that person in the math Department will compare the content covered in that course. So the content covered in the equivalent Georgia Tech course.
If the content overlaps substantially, then yes, you will get credit, otherwise you would not get credit, but it has to cover the same material.
And so on. But what you would do the math Department in that example is going to evaluate the course, but you would have to give the course the course transcript to our registrar. The Registrar is the one because if you give it, if you send it to the math Department as a blanket email.
Lakshmi Raju
02:41:30 PM
*Registrar
Probably it'll get missing someone nobody will look at it, but if you send it to the registrar, he's going to follow up on it. Jeremy is Jeremy Gray at the registrar's office. He's going to make sure that the course evaluated. OK, so Jeremy Gray at the registrar.

Are global experiences required to graduate as an ECE student?
All right, uhm, are there any questions about the content we've covered so far? Global experiences study abroad, interning abroad, serving abroad? The research experiences for class credit versus for pay? The Co op experiences, the intern, ships, anything we've covered so far. You are asking great questions, alright is a global experience required to graduate as a C student? No, but global experience is not required, it's just highly.
Aarthi S.
02:42:18 PM
Can we do internships and co-ops?
Lakshmi Raju
02:42:27 PM
None of these opportunities are required. You can do as many or as little as you want.
Lakshmi Raju
02:42:36 PM
You can intern and co-op, just plan your time.
Shirley S.
02:42:39 PM
Do international students also pay in-state tuition while on Study Abroad?
Encouraged soon as who study abroad, have higher GPA's students who study abroad are more marketable on the job market as well. And so that's why we highly encourage it and then can you do the intern ships or co-ops abroad? Internships abroad are very easy. Yes, we have a full internship abroad program but now Co oping abroad. It's definitely possible. Students tend not to Co-op abroad unless there Co-op in less there from another country and their Co op ING.
Lakshmi Raju
02:43:05 PM
You pay in-state tuition when going to Georgia Tech Study Abroad programs.
In their home country. Because keep in mind for a Co op you're moving there every other semester, and so if you're not from that country, just the logistics of moving there every other semester can be daunting for the average. But it's definitely possible. It doesn't mean you can't do it, we just students tend not to do that. Internships abroad are a lot more likely because it's a one you know. It's a one summer deal, alright. Do international students also pay in state tuition while setting abroad? Yes, yes you do. You will pay in state tuition no matter where you're from.
Amanda H.
02:43:31 PM
Do most study abroad semesters allow you to take in major or out of major classes? Or both? Will it extend your time in college?
International or out of state, you will pay in state tuition went to study abroad. Also if you're studying abroad any any scholarships that you have? Any fellowships that you have any financial aid that you have? As long as you're at a Georgia Tech program is going to apply to your study abroad experience as well? Do most study abroad semester is allow you to take major an out of major classes or both? Will it extend your time in college? So to your second question, no. Studying abroad is not going to extend your time.
Jeffrey S.
02:43:48 PM
How many credit hours do freshman usually take?
Lakshmi Raju
02:44:07 PM
12-15 credit hours, 12 is the minimum credit hours, 21 is the maximum.
I studied a brides by the summer after my junior year. I still had plenty of time, plenty of classes to take. No, it's not going to extend your time as far as the courses that you take. You can take any courses offered at that program so the classes that are offered are highly dependent on the program that you take. All right, how many credit hours do first year students typically take? We recommend 12 to 15 hours. Your first year, 12 to 16 hours your first semester. After second semester, we recommend 15 to 18 hours.
Mridhula M.
02:44:36 PM
What is credit hour? Is it 1 hour of coaching?
And you can do. You can actually get out of ECE taking 15 to 16 credit hours each semester. You can get out in eight semesters. We have a full plan that would allow you to do that. So first year 12. By the way, 12 is the minimum to be a full time student and then 21 is the maximum and so typically our first year students are going to take 12 to 15 Alright and then moving forward is going to be 15 to 18 Alright. And then what is a credit hour? Oh OK. So this is a question. What is a credit hour?
Noah D.
02:44:50 PM
can you have two minors
Each class has a certain number of credit hours. You'll have one credit hour courses, two credit hours, three credit hours, four credit hours, the number of credit hours tells you how many hours will be in class, and it also tells you how many credits, how many hours are expected to study outside of class. So a four credit hour class means that you will physically be in Class 4 hours a week, all right, and then it means you're going to study three for 112 hours outside of class. Your worst week, OK?
Mihir K.
02:45:25 PM

Aarthi S.
02:45:32 PM
Can we double major and do a joint BS/MS program?
Lakshmi Raju
02:45:36 PM
A single minor generally double counts as all your elective hours, a second minor would be extra classes to graduation, so it is up to you.
That's what you are expected to do, and so the credit hour is an indicator of how much time will be spent in class, and then how much time you're going to spend out of class studying. Alright, no ask. And you have two minors. Yes, you're a Georgia Tech engineer. You can do whatever you want to do. If you want to minors, you most certainly can. Alright. Is there a resource where you can find top employers of Georgia Tech companies? No, I can tell you.
Georgia Tech you're not going to find top employers of Georgia Tech students. What you're gonna find is every company wants Georgia Tech. Alright, so I'll give you an example. Intel only recruits at five schools. Georgia Tech is one of them. Now. It doesn't mean the students from other schools don't go to Georgia Tech, it just means Intel is only going to five schools. There are only paying to send people to five schools. One of them is Georgia Tech. So all of your Fortune 100 companies are going to recruit here top grad schools, of course.

Are Comp E and CS co-ops offers similar in terms of alternating semesters?
Our students are going to. You're already at the number 8 school in the world. The number six Department in the country. So all of the top 10 schools are accepting our graduate students alright. As far as the percent of students who go to grad school within ECE, about 10 to 20% are going to go on to Graduate School right after undergrad, we have more who are getting Masters. A smaller percent go to PhD, but it reflects the national averages across the country.
Lakshmi Raju
02:47:06 PM
Yes.
Alright, the industries that our students are going into. Typically you go into the industry of your major if you're majoring in Electrical Engineering, is going to be an easy based job. But now based on the company, that information auto industry versus if you're a copy, maybe on finance industry versus aeronautics industry, that information is not going to be available, but you get to choose and also just a word of as an older professional, a midcareer professional. I can tell you.
You're going to figure out what you want by being in school by doing Reese.

As long as you have a 3.5 GPA when you apply for the BS/MS you will be accepted.
Most companies are going to come to you and it doesn't matter if you want to work at a Fortune 100 company or if you want to work at a nonprofit or do you want to start your own company? Our students are doing it all and it's always aligned with their passion and what they want. That's what we're here for. All right? OK, another question are copies in our copy of CS co-ops similar in terms of automating semester? Yes, every Co op in Georgia Tech. The Coop program is not specific to ECE. Our Co op office has the same rules for every every major, every every Department.
Lakshmi Raju
02:48:38 PM
If you double major and do co-ops it would most likely increase your time to graduation.
You're gonna do full time alternating semesters, three of them at the same company. Yes, alright. Consumers choose be SMS.
Or Georgia Tech select specifics is oh OK, so for the BS Ms program so we have a question, do you choose to be SMS you apply for the BS Ms program, your junior year and the only hard requirement is a 3.5 GPA. That means in a for every be. If you have a 3.5 GPA you are automatically in the be SMS program and it obligates Georges hex, so it obligates us to you. It does not obligate you to us. We're holding a slot in our Masters program for you as a B SMS student, but when you graduate you are welcome.
To decide you want to work all right now to be as soon as program for those of you who are not as familiar.

In terms of graduate school, what is the usual approach to a PhD? Would taking a BS/MS at GT be beneficial before a PhD program?
It is. It gives you one additional year after your bachelors for a Masters. You can double count 'em minimum of six credit hours towards both degrees. Your bachelors in your masters and you can take additional up to 12 credit hours towards your Masters as an undergraduate and the full Masters is only 3030 hours so some students will graduate with 12 credit hours towards their Masters. They only have 18 hours to go. Some students will take all 18 hours in one semester and just get their Masters in a single semester.

Do you get your Bachelor's after 4 or 5 years in a BS/MS Program?
Eric S.
02:50:20 PM
Does the BS/MS program require a Master's thesis?
Lakshmi Raju
02:50:20 PM
If you are looking at grad school, I would recommend going straight into a PhD, rather than getting a MS first.
But it it gives you one additional year, two semesters after your bachelors to get your Masters alright. Also, you don't have to take the GRE and you don't have to pay the application fee if you do the SMS program your end because of the three point five GPA. All right. Let's see if you double major and you're doing Co-op some research yes. Well that extend your time in college. Yes it will. Double majoring is going to be 5 years if you decide to do research. No, because you can take research as class. Credit will count towards your major. Research does not have to extend your time in school.

do humanities/arts/non-engineering classes have the same rigor and quality as engineering courses?
Lakshmi Raju
02:50:47 PM
You graduate with your BS, then a couple semesters after that you complete the MS.
But the Co op, if you're not it depends on of course the number of hours, but a Co-op typically extend your time, so that's up to you in terms of Graduate School. Was the usual approach to to a PhD? Would taking the BS Ms in Georgia Tech be beneficial for PhD program? So I can tell you I went so first of all, you don't need a Masters for PhD. Just throwing it out there. I went straight from the bachelors at Georgia Tech to my PhD program at Princeton. So you just like you don't need an associates to get a bachelors. You don't need a Masters to get a PhD. One of my best friend in grad school.
Lakshmi Raju
02:50:55 PM
It is a non-thesis MS.
Had his Masters from Stanford I was coming in with a bachelors from Georgia Tech. We came in at exactly the same place so his his Masters, A stand for. It definitely helped him in terms of knowledge, but it did not put him further along in the program as me coming in with a bachelors. Everybody comes in at the same place for your PhD alright so the knowledge helps. You yes, but in terms of where you will be in your program. You're starting out at the same place where you have a bachelors or Masters Alright.
Lakshmi Raju
02:51:53 PM
I would say all the classes across the board, even non-engineering classes are of similar wonderful quality, and actually quite interesting!
Do you get a bachelors after four or five years in the be SMS program in the be SMS program you get your bachelors first, so if you were on track to graduate in four years, you would still get your bachelors in four years and then it's one additional year for your Masters. There still two separate degrees, so you're not going to walk across the stage and get a batch of the masses at the same time. You're going to get your bachelors are going to finish the requirements for your bachelors. Get that and then you're going to do your masters and one additional year. Does the SMS program require Masters thesis? No, it does not.
Does not require Masters thesis. You have the option of doing a Masters thesis, but it does not require it. OK, Alright and then Lastly in our 8 minutes that we have left we do have an entrepreneurship program called create X. These are the takeaways. Create X is a zero risk startup. We will give you a full summer to launch a company this summer our our accelerator. Our summer accelerators want to be virtual so we're working with cofounders.
While across the world we give you a $4000 grants in order to live off of during the summer, we give you 50,000 in legal fees so access in order to all of your company paperwork, your cofounder, relationships, everything that you need, we give you 50,000 legal fees, will give you 50,000 and accounting fees as well. In order to launch your company, you get a mentor with domain expertise in the area that you want to launch the company in, and then we also give you connections with other entrepreneurs who are also about.
That entrepreneurship life? That's what we're helping you do all right. But then, if you don't necessarily know that you want to start a company right now, we have classes that you can take in order to learn evidence based launch preneurship. For course credit. We also have a research class called idea to prototype that you can take in order to build your prototype, and that's anything that you just want to build if you want to get it out of your head into physical form, and it can be a software solution as well, will give you a $500 grant in order to build it.
As soon as can ask for more. If you have a real justification for it will give that to you as well. Will give you up to 1000, but $500 is the base for any suited who wants to build a prototype and you don't have to launch a company with the prototype, but it's just a way for you to explore creating your own.
And I'm sure you notice, especially in times like this, it is very helpful if you have the ability to create your own job and so we recognize as an Institute and also an associate director for this program.
The jobs that you are going to have when you graduate probably don't exist right now. We used to be able to train students for a particular job. We used to be able to train you to be a hardware engineer or software engineer or lighting engineer or telecommunications engineer, but right now which raining it should be an engineer and you are going to use your skill set to find where that value is. Because jobs are constantly the needs are ever changing and so create X in our entrepreneurial mindset are entrepreneurial confidence.

what are some things that make the gt ece program stand out? (facilities, professors, etc)
Is how we help our students gain batch skill set to take your engineering degrees and make it work for you in the market. All right now. What other questions? What other questions do we have, either about creating eggs, study abroad, international experience, research experience, class credits? Georgia Tech is an Institute as a whole. The SMS program are interdisciplinary options. Any other questions at all?
OK, what are some of the things that make the ECE program stand out totally? The professors we rock. We also have a really cool maker space called the high. If you could make anything electrical or computer engineering related, but I would say is definitely the culture of our Department. We work hard and we play hard an any given week. You might study 60 hours, but somehow you figure out how to.

How do VIPs differ from conventional research opportunities?
Lakshmi Raju
02:55:40 PM
I really like the number of opportunities available - also since the program is huge, I love the students. We are diverse, so that means you meet a lot of interesting people.
Play 20 of those hours. It's it's just an an amazing program and I wasn't easy undergrad. I remember going weeks without sleeping black boy did I Have fun, alright? What materials does the hive offer?
Ah, Shucks, definitely lots of electronic equipment, lots of oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, but also of course 3D printers you have access to laser cutters. You can make a PCB, you can fabricate your own printed circuit boards and everything. How do VIP is different from conventional research opportunities are vertically integrated projects differs from conventional research in that you're guaranteed course credit for it. You don't have to interview, you don't have to get a professor to select you because it's, uh.
Class and then the theme. Our VIP course runs for years, whereas if you work on a conventional research project, it may only run as long as the funding for that project runs OK. Laxmi also points out that she likes the number of opportunities that are available since the program is so huge and she loves the students were definitely diverse, which means you meet a lot of interesting people by our Department being so large they ECE Department is as large as the.

The hive is student-run, right? How do you become part of the hive?
Most of the other schools on campus where I mean were huge, so you have so many opportunities, so many opportunities. It's obviously the worst thing is you get inundated with all these cool things to do and you just have to choose. You can't do them all. I really wished that I could do them all as I was an undergraduate here now. Any last questions 'cause we had in three minutes? The window is going to close, so I want to make sure that I answered all of your.

You can join the Hive your freshman year, no prior experience is required, just passion!
Brody S.
02:57:51 PM
Do you have any contact info that you can share in case we have additional questions?
Is the hive student run? Yes, the hive is student run. How do you become a part of a hive? You raise your hand. You go to the height and say I'd like to be a student who runs for higher and then they'll train you and then you can do it. So you just sign up. Will the ignite summer program run this summer? Also, just doing it might put you ahead on the completion so they ignite ignite summer program. If you're not familiar is of course, as you are taking classes. So yes, because you're taking Georgia Tech classes, you are getting ahead of degree requirements. Will it run?

What are some work study options for CmpE students on campus?
Lakshmi Raju
02:58:16 PM
If you have additional questions: ambassadors@ece.gatech.edu
So we will see because all of the Georgia Tech terms have to be on line, but I was actually just talking to my colleague who runs at night and she said they haven't decided how it's gonna run yet. Alright, can you join the hive your freshman year? Yes, yes you can. You can join freshman year. What are some work study options for copy students on campus? Workstudy is completely run out of the financial aid office, so you would have to apply for work study and then the person was over the work study program can give you some options OK?
Josh W.
02:58:36 PM
I know Georgia Tech has specific computer requirements, but is there anything specific that you recommend for ECE?
Better 'cause we basically people in have to say hey I want to work study student to do this and then they'll match the student to the opportunity. Is there anyway to qualify for an in-state tuition waiver after your first or second year? Again, financial aid would have to you have to talk directly to financial aid because we're not allowed to give those types of options at the Department level. Georgia Tech has a specific computer in Okapi, computer requirements. Is there anything specific that you recommend for ECE? No for UCENE. Georgia Tech computer is going to work for the PC computers.
Lakshmi Raju
02:59:07 PM
Depends on your own interests, both a PC and Mac work. Some programs only run on a PC, but you can run the virtual labs if you have a Mac.
And then the special tools that you will need are class specific so you'll know what those classes are when you're in this over 2040 we have with this kind of my dad, but you get that, and I can tell you the one thing we have a couple pieces of software that only work on PC's. That's the bad thing. The only work on PC's, but if you have a Mac bootcamp your Mac and use the windows the parallel side. It's OK, right? That's the only thing that matters. PC versus Mac? Any other requirements? Completely up to you.
